Groovy! is set in Southern California, USA in the oceanside city of Willington Heights. Willington Heights is your average Southern California town full of trendy shops, movie theaters, drive-ins, strip malls, clubs, dance houses and lots of shopping. Most students attend Willington High School or Willington Community College. Willington Heights is situated 20 minutes from the ocean and 50 minutes from Los Angeles. Willington Heights could be considered a normal quaint town except that with the Summer of Love the hippie uprising has started to blacken the moods of many of the long-time Willington Heights residents.
Although no specific year in the 60's will ever be assigned to Groovy! it should be considered around 1967 or 1968 during the height of the hippie movement. The hippies coming together has divided the town of Willington Heights: for those who see the power of love and want to embrace and love one another, and those who don't understand what has happened to the youth and music and want the innocence of the old days back. Pick your side or hover somewhere between because there is room for all in Willington Heights!
There is also a darker side to Willington Heights. It's not just the hippie school taught up in the hills. People have said the town is under government scrutiny at all times. Crazy stories abound about government conspiracy, UFOs and rebellion uprising. There is something going down in the bowels of Willington Heights, led by the FFBI but what is really happening no one really knows for sure. Or do they?

The Library .. this is the local hot spot that kids like to go hang out. It's a dance club, a bar, and a hang out all in one. Kids like to tell their parents, "I'm going to The Library!" and then make off here with their folks unawares. Anyone who is anyone knows and hangs out at The Library on a Friday night. Don't forget your go-go boots!

Willington High School .. when not hanging out at The Library most teens end up at WHS. School colours are orange and gold and the mascot is the lion. The school was built in 1957 and is relatively new. They've got an olympic sized pool, full sports clubs, and science labs. WHS trains potential military students for the Air Force in the WOTC and many clubs and extracurrciular activies exist as well.

Willington Community College .. for those out of high school but not yet ready to move out into a university or those just wanting to further their education there is WCC. WCC has a full stock of classes from Archery to Zoology, the best library in the city, many sports clubs as well as a fraternity (Alpha Tau Omega) and sorority (Phi Mu). Dormatories are limited but available and students can enjoy the commons, cafeteria and pool anytime.

Orangespoon Toasterphone .. up in the hills outside of Willington Heights is forest and glades and meadows -- a real place to get in touch with yourself and find peace. That's where you'll find the school Orangespoon Toasterphone, a place that the young and old alike can get together and learn about love, peace and happiness. There's no appication fees just bring an open mind.

Town Life .. Willington Heights has all the comforts of home, and then some. There is the Peabody Grocery run by Ma and Pa Peabody. There is the local cineplex where they show films in Technicolour! or you can snag your date and daddy's T-bird and take a spin to the drive-in. Down on the boardwalk there are many littles shops including resturants, confectionery shoppes, apparel and goods! Beyond the boardwalk is a stretch of golden sand that spreads out into the Pacific Ocean. There is a pier where they net fish, a boat dock where ships come in to port as well as places to take water skiing and surfing lessons! Hang-ten!

Willinton Heights has it's own fire department, Willington Police Department (and a county jailhouse), a court house and public relations building. The mayor of Willington Heights can usually be found in the court house. Anything you want or dream of pretty much exists in Willington Heights. Some of it may be small but it's all there, self sustaining. It's like Willington Heights is its own little world outside of the real world . . .

Tacoma Park .. Tacoma Park takes up a large section of Willington county and is rolling with hills and trees. Orangespoon Toasterphone Academy is located in the depths of Tacoma Park. It's been rumoured that the academy is situated ontop of a secret military base but most say that's really just an old wives tale. Not many wild animals live in the park but there are park benches and fountains situated throughout the grass and some men have been known to put in a game of golf on the greens.

FFBI .. The Future Federal Bureau of Investigation resides under the hills of the Orangespoon Toasterphone school trying its best to remain unnoticed and unseen while it observes the town from its hiding. The FFBI hails from the distant future where much of life as we would know it has come to an end. To prevent the destruction of humanity timeports have been established throughout the future-earth, heavily manned by the FFBI. It is these agents jobs to let people from the future relocate to a life in the relative safety of the 1960's. Time-travelers are reconditioned and have extensive memory work done before they are relesed into Willington Heights. They are electronically tagged and are physically incapable of leaving Willington County. While all relocated travellers are cleared and conditioned to living life in the 1960's before being released there have been known occasions when the memory supression was lifted or knowledge leaked free, and then the FFBI Agents must spring to action and take down the offender at any and all costs to avoid a time paradox. And so the rumours started . . .

Vietnam .. While this is not a specific location or a main point of the room we must remember this roleplay is set during the Vietnam War and many of the hippies are protesting this very event. Please feel free to create characters/plots that take place or revolve around the war. Expand your horizons. The country is lush and beautiful, hot and humid, deadly and perilious. I only ask that you keep your RPs somewhat tame in regards to actual events (i.e. don't 'end the war' with a super spy or something).
