Along with the following rules, there are site-wide rules deemed for all users of IMC which must be followed in all room regardless, it is suggested you read these as well, details of which can be found here and the IMC Terms of Service.

There aren't a lot of rules needed to play effectively in Groovy!. If all you're interested in doing is having a typical mod/rocker teenager or adult then feel free to slap a handle together and start playing! But do look over these rules just incase. While there are only a few they are doubly important.

Disclaimer: Because of the nature of the themes in the room Groovy! there may be underaged drinking, smoking, drug useage, other such illegal acts and/or the possibly of racial discrimination. Please note that while these acts are permissiable in roleplay neither the staff of Groovy! nor the site of IMC condones these acts. Talking about real life underage drinking or the taking of illegal drugs is prohibited. Open discrimination against another chatter for race, gender, sexual prefference or any other reason is not allowed and will be reported. We do not sanctify or endorse these acts.

1.) This room is rated M. This means to expect a higher degree of maturity for this room. Swearing, violence, drugs and sexual innuendo are bound to run rampant in this room, however all of it is to be used in moderation. If your roleplay degrades to cybersex you will be asked to leave. If your dialouge cannot consist of more than three words before a vulgar swear, you will be asked to tone your character down. We will not accept nudity or pictures displaying sexual acts. If you have a question about a picture feel free to ask a member of staff for approval. A repeat violation of any of these (or other) rules will recieve you with a ban. With the M-level of maturity we expect that our chatters know when to restrain themselves.

2.) Chatter picture size is 300x300, 30kb. We are required to tell you if your image is 301 pixles wide, or 31kb big. This is the staff's job. If you rebuke them or make a qualm about resizing/removing your picture it will be noted. Repeat offenses will be dealt with in an image ban. We are aware accidents happen but please be cautious all the same.

3.) Dice are not required in the room for anything at any time. However it is highly recommened that during fair-fights and other situations that dice be used to determine fair outcomes. Generally the rule we've adapted is to roll a 1d 10 for even or odd scores when a one-or-the-other question is up for bid. (i.e. "Should Mike and Sue go to the Park or The Library?") For statistical, percentage questions (i.e. the effectiveness of a punch) a 1d 100 is rolled and the score is a percentage of their effectiveness. (i.e. a roll of 56 on a 1d 100 on a punch would likely connect but not do much damage. A roll of 13 would likely be a spectacular miss and a roll of 98 would possible knock the opposite opponent out cold.) If you feel a character should have a bonus (i.e. a boxer could have a +10 strength) this is up to your discretion, should be marked on your application sheet and available for view by any other chatter (linked to your handle) prior to engaging in the roleplay. Likewise, you can chose to ignore these dice rules all together. However, if you are in a roleplay and one member is using dice then we ask both members to use dice to keep the play fair.

4.) Desctruction of the town is not permitted unless the event is established and approved by staff. This means no terrorist attacks on the school, no planes crashing into The Library, no car wrecks destroying Peabody Grocery, no nuclear bombs detonating the FFBI. That's all there is to that.

5.) Out of Character (OOC) chatter is not frowned upon at all, however, for the sake of logs and clarity of RPing we ask that all chatters use OOC brackets (()) when out of character. Having "OOC" in your tagline is not enough. Thanks.

6.) Tags should have locations in them of some sort. Because Groovy! is set in the United States it is feesible that some chatters will decide to take up their roleplay in cities outside of Willington Heights (or in Vietnam). This is perfectly acceptable, so long as the location is identied in the tag. It is not neccessary to mark where in Willington Heights your character is (i.e. The Library or Orangespoon Toasterphone) but it is helpful if you wish to do it. General character information (age, occupation) can also be added to your tag unless you have a character application sheet linked to your handle.

7.) Godmoding is never allowed. I don't even feel this should be a rule, but here it is. If you do it, you'll be smacked. Repeat offenses will result in a ban. Don't make me get angry. Don't be stupid.

8.) Please don't promote other rooms in Groovy! either by announcing other rooms in your tagline/posts or putting "Staffer/Host/etc. of (Other IMC Room)" in your tag. It's disrespectful and stuff. Thanks. :) We will ask you to remove or refrain from doing it. However, chatting about other rooms is all right.

9.) It is understood that any web designing done for the Groovy! webpage is contracted work and done for the benefit and property of the entire room. If a web designer does work for the homepage and then chooses to discontinue its relationship with Groovy!, the room administration may continue to use that design unless other friendly terms are reached.

10.) Your character must be period. While the room is set in Southern California I realize that things were different around the world. I don't mind if your characters are Japanese or Korean but remember to keep them period to the late 1960's, and with similar mentality. You can play a Vietnamese girl in Willington but understand she will be looked down upon. Absolutely no time travellers or futuristic characters unless approved by the FFBI. This also means no elves, dragons, mermaids, furries, faeries, dwarves, robots, androids, etc.

11.) You cannot be someone famous. This means no Janis Joplin, no Elvis, no Nixon, no John Lennon, no Jimi Hendrix. You're certainly welcome to use characters that are similar to these, who admire these famous people but they cannot be these famous people. It's too difficult to work them in, it wouldn't make sense to have them doing things they wouldn't do, and I don't want to deal with the "source handles" of 'real people.' No exceptions.

12.) Character sheets are not required (except in certain cases, as detailed below) but they are highly recommended. Character sheets should be linked to your handle and just state the basic information. They are a fun way to keep your characters up to date and to let a potential roleplay partner know what sort of character they're getting involved with. Character sheets are required for FFBI Agents and Timetravellers. FFBI Agents and Timetravellers must pass inspection and be approved for play before they are allowed into the room. Characters that have leader positions should also have applications. These include police officers, politicans, professors/teachers, coaches and anything with credentials. Leadership applications are considerably easier to obtain than FFBI Agent/Traveller applications. :)

These rules are subject to change and be added to at any time. If you have any further questions please don't hesitate to contact a staff member and inquire there. Thanks!
